I was asked how everything gets setup for streaming live racquetball matches for USA Racquetball. I did a few quick explainer videos during the setup for the 2025 Intercollegiate National Championships.
The matches produced by that setup are collected here:

My process is similar to that used by the LPRT and International Racquetball Tour but will vary because of the type of camera in use.
Let me know what questions remain, and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Video 1 – Always start by planning for power
Video 2 – Connecting the Cameras to Power and aligning them on mounts and tripods
Video 3 – Connecting the Cameras to an ATEM MINI Extreme – HDMI options and Wireless HDMI transmission
Video 4 – Setting up the Audio – Zoom Podtrak P4 and Audio Technica headsets
Video 5 – Adding networking – Travel Router and Ethernet connections
Video 6 – Tying it all together with a computer
These are the devices mentioned and displayed in the videos above.

Power options
Anker 20W USB C Power Strip – One for each camera
Anker USB C Power Strip Surge Protector – One for each end of the desk
Anker USB C Outlet Extender – One to manage the connection between the desk and the wall power cables
Additionally, I carry three 25–50-foot power extension cords, usually acquired from Home Depot. Any resilient power extension cord will suffice.
Here’s one from Amazon if you need a few extra dollars spent to get free shipping.

HDMI options
Duttek 4K Micro HDMI to HDMI Cable This is the coiled right-angle adapter to come out of the camera to the wireless transmitter.
Micro HDMI to HDMI Adapter This is used to come out of the camera to a full-sized HDMI cable.
Aurum HDMI Cables I use these in 2-foot, 5-foot, and 12-foot lengths. I carry 3-4 extra of each length, to ensure that if one gets damaged it can be immediately replaced. Currently, Aurum is specializing in longer cables. My Sony Cameras don’t work with anything longer than the 12-foot version, so I don’t recommend getting any longer lengths. Any well rated HDMI cable in those lengths will be fine.
Wireless HDMI transmission
Hollyland Mars 300 PRO These are no longer available but have worked perfectly for me for 4+ years. For uninterrupted line of sight situations, as can usually be arranged between the court and the broadcast table, any of the Hollyland wireless transmission sets will do an amazing job.
Ethernet
GL.iNet GL-A1300 Pocket VPN Travel Router All of the GL.iNet travel routers will work, just be sure to select one with at least 2 LAN ports (one cable to the computer, one to the ATEM) and one WAN port to connect to the facilities ethernet port.
Cat8 Ethernet Cable 3FT 5 Pack Multi Color The five-foot version would also work well to connect the PC, Router, and ATEM.
Ethernet Cable 100 ft High Speed, Cat 6 Not shown in the NCSU videos above, but used in most facilities to get from the nearest Ethernet port to the broadcast table.
Cameras and video switching
Sony FDR-AX43 UHD 4K Handycam Camcorder Originally chosen because Best Buy carried them and they were easily replaced in an emergency. I did have to get one repaired/replaced after broadcasting a Squash 57 match. Otherwise, they have worked reliably for years.
Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Extreme ISO The ISO version is overkill if you aren’t planning to edit the video later. Having the option to record up to 8 cameras at once is almost too good to pass up.
Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro and its current competitors are more than sufficient for a 3-camera broadcast as is done for most racquetball events. If I were starting from scratch and intended to go from HDMI to SDI cameras at some point in the future, I would go with an osee GoStream Duet as it is very inexpensive and supports both types of camera connection.
OBSBOT Tiny SE 1080p Used for the video of the commentators, not shown in the videos above as it didn’t get setup until the next day. It is a USB camera that plugs directly into the laptop.
Tripods and mounts
JOILCAN Tripod These are the perfect height for racquetball. I use one for each side camera.
Delkin Devices Fat Gecko Dual Suction Camera Mount This is the mount for above the door.
Amazon Basics 64-inch Extendable Tripod This is used for the OBSBOT PTZ camera and sits on the table.
Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod This is used to elevate the HDMI Wireless Receiver (Hollyland Mars 300 Pro) off the table for better line of sight connection.
Tape
Lockport Black Gaffers Tape 2-inch x 30 Yards Used to keep cables that cross walkways secure. This will also hold up the power cable and HDMI cables going to the center camera above the door.
Audio
Zoom PodTrak P4 Podcast Recorder
Audio-Technica BPHS1 Broadcast Stereo Headset
240W USB C Cable 6.6FT A pair of these, one for power and the other to go to the computer. Also used to connect the ATEM to the computer for video.
COMICA Vimo Q Wireless Lavalier Microphone System This system comes with 4 microphones that connect to the same receiver. I’ve used this to allow more commentators at once (at ASU in prior years) as well as recording the speaker during the awards presentation.
Monitor
Portable HDMI Monitor powered via USB My monitor is no longer manufactured or sold. There are dozens of competitors though. I would look for the one that is easiest to travel with, i.e. 15-inch, USB powered, with its own cover. Quite a few are available below $100.
Streamdeck
Elgato Stream Deck XL – vital to bring all of the controls from vMix and the ATEM into a single interface that can quickly change camera angles, start and stop commercials, turn on and off the scoreboard, and dozens more actions.
Software
vMix Max I use the subscription version as there are months when I will not be broadcasting. This provides the major functionality including instant replay. Worth every penny ($50 per month on the subscription version).
Bitfocus Companion is used to control the actions of the buttons on the Stream deck. It has integrations with vastly more devices than I use it for and it does the ones I do use extremely well. Also, free. 🙂
